The Jerk Wing Place in Campbell

Caribbean · South Bay · $$·Campbell, South Bay·February 2026

I waited two hours and ten minutes for a table here on a Friday, in the rain, standing under an awning with about thirty other people who clearly knew something I didn't. I want to tell you I regret it. I don't. These are the best wings I've had in California, and I've made the drive down from the city four times since.

The Wings

The Wings

They marinate for a full day and grill over pimento wood, which is the part nobody else in the Bay bothers with, and you can taste the difference in the first bite — smoke first, then heat that builds slowly and sits on the back of your tongue. Get the full dozen. The half dozen is a decision you will regret in about four minutes. Ask for extra scotch bonnet on the side if you actually like heat; the default is medium by Bay Area standards, which is to say mild.

The Rest of the Menu

The Rest of the Menu

The oxtail is genuinely excellent — falls apart, gravy worth eating with a spoon — but it sells out most nights by 7:30. Rice and peas are cooked in coconut milk and are a full course on their own. Skip the plantains; they're fine, but they're not why you drove here.

The Room

The Room

It's a strip mall spot with about eleven tables, fluorescent overhead light, and a TV playing football in the corner. It is not romantic. It is not pretty. The soundtrack is loud and great, the staff are genuinely warm, and everyone in the room is happy. That counts for more than most dining rooms I've paid three times as much to sit in.

Know Before You Go

Know Before You Go

No reservations, cash-preferred (there's an ATM), and the line starts forming around 5:30 on weekends. Weekday late-afternoon is the cheat code. Parking is easy in the shared lot behind.

Everything I Ordered

What I ate, dish by dish

Scored the same way as everything else on this site — honestly, and with the understanding that not every plate deserves your money.

  • Full Dozen Jerk Wings$219.9

Pimento-wood smoke, slow heat, lacquered edges. Do not order the half dozen.

  • Oxtail with Rice & Peas$249.5

Falls off the bone, gravy worth a spoon. Sells out by 7:30 most nights.

  • Curry Goat$229.0

Deeper and less sweet than the oxtail. Get it if you're two people and sharing.

  • Rice & Peas (side)$59.2

Coconut milk, thyme, a whole scotch bonnet cooked in and pulled out.

  • Festival Dumplings$68.5

Sweet, fried, good for mopping. Better than the plantains.

  • Fried Plantains$67.0

Fine. Skip them and get another round of wings.
