Is it actually worth it?
This is the happy hour I recommend most often and the one people thank me for most. The jerk wings are properly marinated — smoky, sweet, and hot in a way that builds rather than slaps — and six of them for $9 is close to charity.
The oxtail croquettes are the sleeper hit: crisp shell, deeply savory braise inside, gone in four bites. The festival (slightly sweet fried dough) exists to cool your mouth down between wings, and you'll want two orders. Plantains are caramelized properly, not just fried.
The rum punch is strong and unapologetic about it. Have one, maybe two, and eat something. This is not a sipping-and-pacing kind of drink.
Two people can eat and drink genuinely well here for under $50. There's no version of this list where Back A Yard isn't on it.
