Is it actually worth it?
This is the happy hour I take people to when they've just landed and want to feel like they're in San Francisco. You sit at the counter facing the water, the light comes in sideways at 5pm, and the oysters cost less than a latte.
Quality-wise: the oysters are small but pristine and shucked properly — no grit, no shell shards, liquor intact. The mignonette is a little heavy on the shallot for me, so I ask for extra lemon. The chowder is a solid, not-too-thick version. The crab roll isn't part of the deal but I order it every single time and I'd tell you to do the same.
The honest caveat: it gets loud and touristy after 4:30. Come at 3:15 and you'll have the counter mostly to yourself.
